OBESITY RELATED DISEASES - ORCD
- Heart Disease & Stroke: Extra weight forces the heart to work harder, leading to high blood pressure, blocked arteries, heart attacks, and strokes.
- Type 2 Diabetes: Excess body fat makes the body resist insulin, causing blood sugar levels to rise to dangerous levels.
- Certain Cancers: Obesity is linked to a higher risk of developing cancers of the breast, colon, uterus, kidney, and pancreas.
- Sleep Apnea: Fat deposits in the neck can block the airway during sleep, causing breathing to repeatedly stop and start.
- Osteoarthritis: Carrying extra weight puts constant, heavy pressure on joints (especially the knees and hips), wearing down the protective cartilage.
- Fatty Liver Disease: Extra fat can build up in the liver, causing inflammation and damage (sometimes leading to cirrhosis).
- Gallbladder Disease: Being overweight increases the risk of developing painful gallstones and other related gallbladder issues.
